Valerie George has been involved in the DIY punk scene in the south since the 1990's and the DIY experimentation of sound, chance composition, humor, play, art, music and feminist theory is reflected in her work.
In 2013 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which recurred in 2016 and again in 2019. George has subsequently created feminist works that explore the female body, mortality, entropy, and humor. Her work often evokes and directly responds to artists, movements and aesthetics of Art History, in acknowledgment that her work and world could not exist without that which came before her.
